Spring Break Blues

Spring Break is only a few days away for us here at MSUM, and you can already feel the antisipation building to get outta here!

This week is full of midterms, final preparation for the break, and dreams of the warm, sandy beach of Florida, Mexico, or California. I have these dreams. Dreams of a sunny swim in the ocean. Walking along a beach as the sun sets (as cheesy as it sounds), and relaxing under a palm tree and let my mind drift away from school for a week.

Unfortionately, this dream is not one I can have, at least this year.

I have German class at Concordia next week while my friends sped time in Cabo, on a cruise, or in the mountains snowboarding their cares away. I want that!

Yes it is only one class all week, but its the fact of knowing I CAN"T sleep in, I HAVE to worry about school, and I CAN"T enjoy a litte free time.

Oh the frustration with Tri-College classes. Don't get me wrong, its a great program, but this no Spring Break thing bits a little. Maybe I can fullfill my dream next year by going on that cruise to the Bahamas, or visit family in California. We shell see.

I guess I can't complain too much because if it wasn't for my Tri-Colege classes at Concordia I wouldn't be going to Germany this summer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Deutschland, hier komme ich!

A Day in the Life of ME!

Today, I going to talk about 24 hours in the life of me, as a college student. I do want to say first and foremost I'm taking on all of these things and have realized what I'm about to talk to you about is all my doing. It is stressful as I will talk about, but this is not the typical student experience. I want to express how a student like myself may feel and expereince MSUM!

Sunday:
This is the start of my school week, with reading I have to do for Monday classes. I bury myself in an article about colonialism in Africa and its affects on the world today. I can't help but wonder how such inequality was believe to be acceptable back then. After 20 pages of this article, I find myself working on my German homework, trying to figure out a puzzle, completely in German of course. I finish that and move on to more reading, this time about the background behind the state of Israel. i ask myself how important this country is to the world safety or destruction in the coming decades, but i continue. Bedtime happens to be around midnight.

Monday
Alarm goes off at 7:00 this morning, like most days. I get to class for German by 8:30, spend an hour and 10 minutes going over new vocabulary and the EU and Germany's influence in it, than off to MSUM's campus. I spend the next few hours reading more, this time from my Africa Textbook, dealing with Africa in WWII and the growing revolutions that took place then. Of to class by 12:30, to sit in a role playing history class, to laugh, to enjoy, and to instruct them on "proper" Ming China meeting etiquette. by 1:30 I walk into Africa in World history and take notes and discuss the reading for the class period. A meeting with my professor about my Model UN speech I'm working on, than its time to go home.

Next its time for homework. I had an article review and response to write. The article was about making social studies more enjoyable and understandable for your students. It also discussed many methods of doing this, which were very beneficial for me to learn as a future educator. Next came German, again. I worked my way through a computer program used to teach it, did some more reading and hit the hay by around midnight.

I hope this small sampling can help any of you still wondering what you life might be like as a student at MSUM, or any other university.

Time to go out and give a tour!

Olympic Fever

This week is going by pretty swell so far, but its only Tuesday. I don't have class at Corcordia (my German class) this week because they are on Spring Break on, which stinks because that means I don't have a week off like every other students (during MSUM's Spring Break I have class at Concordia). It is something I just need to deal with though.

I'm able to sleep in as late as I want tomorrow, Yes! I don't have class til 12:30!

I'm pretty pumped about the job the US Olympic Team has been doing the past week or so. I have watch some event every day the past week. Most of my time outside of work and school has been dedicated to the Olympics. I can't wait until its over though because I have been slacking on my homework since, oops, lol!

I will admit and you can hold it against me if you want to, but I have been watching figure skating and watching it a lot. I'm comfortable with my masculinity to admit it. I'm rooting for the Americans of course!

I'm on Favre watch now, just waiting for him to the anouncement that he's coming back to win on in Dallas: "Destination Dallas" here we come home boy!!!

There is a rumor that Darren Sharper, a safety, may be returning to the Vikings this year! I can't imagine a better way to start the season then with Sharper, Bevell, Longwell ,and Favre all on the Vikings, what a way to rub it in the face of the Packers!

Twins opened Spring Training this past week, and all the talk is around Mauer. I hope a deal gets done soon, but will not fret for I feel in my heart it will. Mauer will be a Twin for years to come.

I have talked about representing Israel in Model UN later this spring, and I'm excited to do so. I have found so much information about Israel and its relations with Iran that I don't know what to think. I feel the issue between these nations will change the world in the NEAR future.

Well that's all I got for you today, hope you have a wonderful week!

Hi ya'll, how's life treating you!

It has been a busy week since I last wrote to you. I had a paper due last Thursday, which took up a good eveing and a half to write. Git it back today, but without a grade so i ho[e it went well!?!?

I'm starting to feel the stress and sleepless nights take it toll on me. It gets harder to roll out of bed each Monday, but you gotta do what you gotta do.

I'm working hard to get my speech started for the keynote speech I'm giving at the model UN summit in April, I think I will have killed about 3 tress by the end of it! My professor has had me print so many articles to use in Israel's defense, lol!

I'm so ready for a nap, lol, I have grown to love them more and more as the years go by.

Super Bowl was nothing special to me. I think I'm still bitter about how the Vikings season ended, but Dallas and Super Bowl 45, "We're Comin'!!!" We're going to the "Super Bowl, home boy!"

One thing I'm really excited about is this years Twins! The stadium is awesome, the moves thy've made are awesome, and our season should be awesome! I can't wait to go cheer them on at Target Field!

Next thing on my mind is the NFL draft, who will help the Vikes win it all next year? I'm sure I'll go on about this til April so I won't discuss it anymore with you, but I'm excited!

I think  it's time for me to call and see you later!

Back for Another Round!

Hey Ya'll, I'm back!

I'm back to fill you life with more randomness and interesting (in my opinion) nonsense. Been doing this school thing for the 3-4 weeks now and already ready for it to be over. This semester, I thought, was supposed to be a cake walk, but now I realize that was completely naive of me.

I work 2 jobs (part of the reason I'm writing this), have 16 credits (4 of which is Deutsch!), and am part of a mentor ship program for History Day; not to mention my duties as Sargent at Arms for the History Club ( I love that title!).

A highlight of this semester is my new role as Tour Guide, which has changed since last semester. I make more, which is always nice, and I feel like I'm the boss of someone, at least for a few hours a week! I have giving many awesome tours as of late as well, maybe to someone out there reading this!

I have been "selected" to be a key note speaker at a Model UN convention I'm attending for the country of Israel. It is a short speech, but 400 students who are out to belittle you in front of everyone else will be in the audience, how Fun! I really looking forward to this experience though. One piece of advise to those of you reading this, take as many chance you can to speak in front of other, it good practice and will always help down the road.

My birthday is just weeks away, (49 days to be exact)!

Lastly I wish to write about the biggest event I have coming up in the near future, My trip to Germany!!!!!!!!!!!

I can't wait to visit Deutschland!!!

We will be spending 5 weeks over there going all over including Wittenburg, Berlin, and many more! We're going to a concentration camp, a castle, and check out Lutherfest, a big Renaissance Fair! I will probably have more updates as as the trip draws near, but I can't tell you how excited i am for it!

Last Days of School!!!!

I cannot believe it, school is almost over for 2009! I only have 4 full days of classes and finals and I'm outta here! I can't wait til Christmas break and time off! School is school, we all know that routine and how sickening it can become. I love what I'm doing, don't get me wrong. It just gets a little overwhelming sometimes. Well, to what I care most about, The PURPLE and GOLD!

Wow, what a big couple of games for us! We showed our might and that we are an elite team in the league. Yes, their our those out there who will disregard what we've done and I say let them. Our actions speak for themselves. It's a proud day to be a Viking!

This is a couple weeks late, but I'm sure gald Mauer Power came through for us! The MVP award was his this year, and the voting showed that. I just hope we can sign him for an extended period of time. Hes important to our future.

I just gave a tour today to my sister and her friends. It's so wierd to see her out looking at schools! I feel so old! She's really interested in MSUM, which is good, but I can't believe this time is here! Life goes by faster every year, I swear.

Its official, I'm going to Germany this summer! I can't wait! Its gonna be hard, I will miss a few major events this year, but its an once in a lifetime opportunity to go and I don't think I can turn it down. I hope it all goes well going up to this trip.

Well, back to work.

Me a TV Star?!?!

Guten Abend,

Its good to be back with you! I in a good mood, for some unknown reason. I'm at work, entering data, and have a research paper due tomorrow, where is the joy in any of that!

I guess today went well. I will be on TV tonight, thats cool! I was giving a tour and when we entered the Wellness Center, their was my boss, a camera crew, and a local reporter! They taped me giving a tour through the building! They interviewed my guest for about five minutes and were off! I can't wait to get out and watch it!

The research paper tomorrow shouldn't be a big deal. i have some of it written and I only have to write about 5-6 pages total, so thats not to bad.

I'm happy with the Trade the Twins made, trading Carlos Gomez for J.J. Hardy. We needed a shortstop for the future and we had an extra outfield, solving both issues. Gomez will be missed by many though, including myself. he was one of the fastest men in the outfield and his defensive play will be missed. Good Luck and God bless you Go-Go!

Now to my favorite team, The Purple and Gold! This weekend should not be a major test for them, its the Lions. I do not expect a blowout: the games in the division are usually close. i just hope we can continue to rest Winfield and maybe get Jackson in for a few snaps. we need to start looking toward the playoffs after this past past weeks' events. We need to rest who we can when we can to have them more ready for that playoff push. One gane at a time, we can do great things!

Deer Hunting didn't go very well this weekend. I didn't see a buck big enough to shot, I didn't see many of them at all for that matter. i only shot at a doe, which I missed. I will have "limited action" this weekend due to my invovlement in a colunteer program on Saturday, so I really only have one full day. I better get busy!

Time to get back to work,

Numero Uno!

Guten Abend,

I'm finally in a dead week! No homework, no test (after today), no project, no nothing due!

YES!

Tonight I can finally get ahead, that is if I feel like it and not just taking a break. This has been a wild last two days for me, I have to say!

You can't expect me to not talk about the Vikings game!

That game was awesome! I will not soon, if ever forget it! We are in the driver seat in the NFC North and aren't showing any sign of letting it go. By not means is it without a doubt ours (I have seen major implosions of my favorite team before), but we should win this division with little to no problems. 7-1 is not too bad!

We needed the by this weekend, Winfield needs to heal, Harvin needs a break, Hutchinson's back could use it, Peterson's ankle could use a break, Berrian needs a break, and last and not least, Favre's 40 year old arm could use a rest! I think I need the break too! I have never been so nervous before games, and during, as I have been this year. Time to cool down!

Secondly, My job "title" may be changing in a BIG way! I don't know a lot about it and what's going down, but it will change a lot. I just hope I can still give campus tors!

Otherwise, classes are going well. I'm glad there is nothing for me to do and nothing to be done this week. I needed this "break" to get ahead of myself and get some stuff done. I have a paper to write by the end of the year, a book to read and other assignments I can do.

I had a good Halloween; I dressed up as Hugh Hefner (sp). No candy, but a good time!

Lastly, DEER HUNTING IS COMING UP! I can't wait to get out in the woods and get the "tirty-pointer!" Just spent over a hundred dollars on new gear, which really stinks, but its all worth it!

Well, I better get back to work!

A "Blah" Stretch

What to write about, let's see.
I have had the last two days off of german class, that is a nice break to get. i have to go tomorrow, which means I have homework to do tonight, AHHH! It should be quick though.

I think I'm going out to buy my costume for Saturday, i don't really know what I'm gonna be though....

I have to say I'm happy with the outcome of the Vikings game this weekend. We lost, but very well could have won. I do realize that we should have lost a couple games this year already, so it just caught up on us this weekend. I'm looking forward to the game on Sunday @ Green Bay! I really have a feeling they will win this game. its important to us for the rest of the season and I think Favre will come out big!

I'm glad I got a 100% on a major project i recently handed in, I needed it. I didn't do so hot on the Midterm and needed a good grade on it to help dig my self out of the hole I made for myself.

I had to get a tetunus shot on Friday due to a cut I recieved at work. It didn't hurt too bad, but it was on rusty metal so... a shot was for the best. it hurt so bad, I had trouble sleeping because of it! I should have a pretty awesome scar from it, so that is good!

I can't wait until deerhunting, it is just around the corner! I have been shut out the last couple years so I think my time is over due. I just hope i can beat my brother this year, he seems to always get a nice one!

I went to a grosthunter last Tuesday that was on campus, it was pretty cool. He talked about all of his past experiences and showed us some of his EVP's and videos. I'm glad i gave up the time to do that. I do believe in ghost, so it was cool to see what he has to show as a ghosthunter.

Otherwise, I'm just trying to get through, Midterm is officially over, but not the exams. i have a POL SCI test on Friday, as well as a WWI test on Thursday! No rest for the wiery I guess!

Good Week

Guten Abend (Good Evening),
As you can see by the picture, I WAS AT THE VIKINGS GAME THIS WEEKEND! It was such a good time. It was the most exciting/ nervious experience I have had during a game in person.

The way it ended is something I will never forget. I still can't believe he missed the fieldgoal!

Midterm has come and gone the last couple weeks. It has been a VERY busy couple of weeks. I just finished my german test today, it went well, I hope! I handed in a major 32 PAGE project for my SPED 320 class on Monday, and soon I will start on my volunteer work for that class. I get the plessure of working with students in need and help them with whatever I'm assignment to do. I can't wait!

To make my life better, in one of my history classes, we banded together and talked the professor in pushing back our review assignment due date! One more test this week and two more next and I'm in the clear for a few weeks!

Let's go Vikings against the Steelers, we need you Winfield!

Stay Classy and,
